The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of three persons by gunmen in the Akpoha community, located in the Afikpo LGA of the state.
DSP Joshua Ukandu, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed the incident to City & Crime via phone call on Tuesday.
He said the command had dispatched a tactical police team to track down the assailants, who managed to escape unscathed.
The confirmation came three days after Egwu Nicholas, Emmanuel Nwocha, and Inya Blessing Orieoma were killed by the gunmen at Akpoha Junction.

According to the Youth President of Akpoha community, Mr. Donatus Uche, the victims were killed following heavy gunfire on May 25, 2024.
Uche said the gunmen, armed with AK-47s, operated using two motorbikes.
It was gathered that the gunmen fled through the Afikpo/Amasiri road axis.
Bullet shells found at the scene were collected by a team of intelligence officers from the Abakiliki Command headquarters.
Our correspondent reports that the latest incident followed a similar attack last year in the Akpoha community, which resulted in the deaths of atleast five youths.
Uche urged the state government to intervene by establishing security posts along the Akpoha-Afikpo road to prevent further incidents.
