FCT community laments lack of water

Residents of Tatagiya in Gwagwa Ward in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the FCT have decried lack of access to potable water in their community.

Residents who spoke with our correspondent on Saturday said lack of pipe-borne water had been their major challenge over the years, noting that a pond had been their only source of water.

A resident, Ishaya Samuel, said there was no borehole in the community, hence that they mostly trekked to a pond to fetch water.

The Village Head of Tatagiya, Mr Enoch Galadima, said, “It is only during the rainy season that my people do have some sigh of relief as they don’t go to the stream to get water. If you see the kind of water my people drink, you will pity them.”

He noted that, “But the chairman ordered some officials who came to this village to see how they would sink a borehole. I am very glad for the gesture as it will reduce the problem of water here.”
