Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has categorically denied allegations that he has ulterior motives behind the remodeling of Jimeta shopping complex, emphasizing that his decision is purely altruistic and aimed at benefiting the state and its people.
Fintiri stated this during an interactive session with members of the correspondents’ chapel on Thursday, attributing the speculations to a small group of individuals opposed to the state’s development.
The Governor reiterated that he has a responsibility to take bold and futuristic decisions that will have long-lasting benefits for the state, despite the opposition from a few retrogressive elements.
He explained that the chaos and disorder in the shopping complex prompted his decision to modernize the market, sanitize it, free up spaces, and create an outstanding business and commercial hub in Adamawa State.
Upon completion, the market will boast modern infrastructure and facilities, akin to those found in developed countries.
Fintiri emphasized that he has no personal interest in acquiring land or shops in the market, as he is not a trader.
Instead, he seeks to build enduring and state-of-the-art facilities that will benefit the people of Adamawa State, and he is confident that posterity will vindicate his actions when the benefits of his decisions become apparent.
He urged traders and the people of Adamawa State to continue supporting government policies and programs aimed at enhancing the socio-economic fortunes and livelihoods of the state’s citizens.
