The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced the training of 20 unemployed youths on selected digital and domestic skills to empower them and reduce crimes in Borno State.
The Director-General of the NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, while declaring the 3-day training open in Maiduguri, said the training is aimed to address the issues of unemployment and relieve the economic hardship in the state.
Fikpo, who was represented by the state coordinator, Mohammed Gaji Galadima, said the participants chose to be trained in web design, computer programming, soft furnishings, catering services and confectionery.

He said the training, under the Vocational Skills Development Department for its Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme, is going on simultaneously across the 36 states and FCT with 740 trainees in total.
He urged the beneficiaries to show commitment throughout the training and use the opportunity to build a future for themselves.
