5th Chukker, Malcomines, Rumbu, others jostle for charity laurels

From the foremost Eleyele rolling fields in the ancient Oyo Kingdom venue of Ibadan polo festival, the national polo tour will move up north with the cosmopolitan city of Kaduna playing host to the 2024 edition of Africa’s premium fund raising polo tournament, the Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield Polo Tournament.

A record 25 teams listing former champions, Access Bank polo team and Fifth Chukker, Malcomines , Kano Rumbu and 22 other teams have been confirmed to battle for top honours in this year’s charity event taking in centre in Kaduna from May28, 2024 and thrill till June 9, 2024 at the foremost Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Resort

According to the media release, the UNICEF event will be decided in two stages, with teams vying for the UNICEF Cup and the events’ second most wanted prize, The Access Bank Cup in the first stage from May 28-June2, 2024.

Polo Royals can also confirmed that  the second and the grand finale stage  billed for June 4-9, 2024 will see title holders,  Access Bank/Fifth Chukker, Jos Malcomines and six other determined regulars in a winner-takes-all chase for the Usman Dantata Cup and tournament top prize, the Charity Shield respectively.

“This year’s tournament is more than an affirmation of that commitment to socio-economic wellbeing of mankind and acknowledgement of the impact the initiative has had on the lives of the orphaned and vulnerable children in northern Nigeria especially in Kaduna state,” the release added.
