The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has announced the deployment of 1,500 personnel to Bama, Borno State, to boost security and facilitate quick return of civilian population dislocated from the areas by terrorists. The agency said it acted in compliance with the recent federal government directive which mandated the Army, the Civil Defence and the Police to provide 1,500 personnel each from their respective services to enhance the security footprint in the region and give internally displaced persons the confidence to return and rebuild their communities. The NSCDC Commandant General, Abdullahi Muhammadu Gana, who made this disclosure on September 19, also said that the agency has set up a Special Bama Squad (SBS) to conduct continuous patrols of the communities and their environs. While addressing the Corps Management team, Zonal Commanders and State Commandants, Gana said that the necessary logistical arrangements to cater for NSCDC personnel who will be stationed inside Bama to receive returnees are also been addressed. He added that the SBS will undergo training at the NSCDC Training School preparatory to their deployment.
