N/Delta Minister Commends Wike’s Infrastructure Initiative In Abuja Satellite Towns

Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, has commended his colleague, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for developing satellite towns.

He spoke Monday during the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House.

“I’m elated with what you’re doing with infrastructure renewal, not only in the main city of Abuja but, more importantly, in the satellite towns. This in particular caught my attention. I commend your efforts,” the minister said while commenting on the various issues raised by the FCT Minister during the meeting.

Momoh, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, John Mayaki, said spreading development to the satellite towns bordering the FCT would significantly reverse the rural-urban drift experienced in Abuja.

“The initiative of the FCT Minister is in line with the renewed hope agenda of Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is aimed at making rural dwellers comfortable and opening them up for development,” he added.

He stressed the importance of extending road construction beyond the municipal areas to restore residents’ confidence in the government.

He attributed the spate of rural-urban migration to the lack of roads and other basic amenities necessary for a comfortable life.

“The development of satellite towns would address the challenge of insecurity, improve access to schools, facilitate the evacuation of farm produce to the market, and boost economic activities,” he said.
