The Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Football Association, Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, has called on Nigerians, particularly football stakeholders to rally round Finidi George to succeed as coach of the Super Eagles.
Speaking in an interview with Trust Sports, Mohammed said Finidi has merited his appointment because he has acquired the experience to lead the Super Eagles.
He also advised the new coach to hit the ground running by coming up with a workable plan and strategy to transform the Super Eagles into a formidable team.
“We must always be positive and support Finidi. He is the Head Coach of one of the top teams in the Nigerian league. He served his country meritoriously. He played at the highest level and performed. Finidi played twice at the World Cup.

“Now he must come out with a plan and strategy to get the job done. He needs all the support and then he must give confidence to the players to deliver,” he said.
Mouktar also said Finidi will be under intense pressure from Nigerian football fans but he must show strong character and produce results to convince them to support him in his new task.
He added that the new coach must qualify the Super Eagles for the 2026 World Cup as anything short of that would spell doom for the country’s football.
“Finidi will be under close scrutiny and pressure from his employers, from the media, Nigerians, his players and other external foes and forces.
“He must always pick the best players and employ top game analysts that will help him work better. He must qualify for the World Cup. Anything short of that would be a disaster! That is the minimum of what Nigerians will accept.
“To leave a good legacy and earn more respect for indigenous coaches, Finidi must not fail. He must succeed to justify our confidence in him,” he said.
Mouktar, therefore, said that to make things easy for the coach, the NFF must carry him along in the appointment of the backroom staff of the Super Eagles.
