Nigeria must double efforts to prevent HIV — NACA

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) says it is crucial for Nigeria to redouble its efforts in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and strive for an AIDS-free generation by 2030.

 The Director General of NACA, Dr Temitope Ilori stated this yesterday during the 2024 Nigeria HIV Prevention Conference, organised by the agency in Abuja. The conference was themed ‘Accelerating HIV prevention to end AIDS through innovations and community engagement.’

 She said the country could do so by leveraging the advancements in health technology at its disposal.

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa, who was represented by Dr David Atuwo, said the theme of the conference was apt as it focuses on ending HIV/AIDS through innovation and engagement of all stakeholders in the fight to eradicate the disease through prevention.
