The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has urged members of the 2024 Hajj media team to prioritise accuracy and objectivity in their reporting throughout the pilgrimage.
The chairman of the commission, Malam Jalal Arabi, said this yesterday during the inauguration of the National Media Team for the 2024 Hajj in Abuja.
Arabi underscored the significance of media professionals maintaining integrity in their work, as their reports can significantly impact communities.
He stressed the importance of upholding ethical standards and doing what is right with sincerity and conscientiousness.

Arabi expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities but reminded them of the high expectations placed upon them during the pilgrimage.
He also encouraged the media team to offer guidance to other pilgrims where necessary, emphasising their dual role as both reporters and participants.
Prof Abubakar Yagawal, NAHCON’s Commissioner of Planning Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services urged the media team to safeguard Nigeria’s interests and portray NAHCON positively.
He also reminded media professionals about the principle of responsible information sharing, citing Prophet Muhammad’s teachings that believers should speak good or remain silent.
Also, Commissioner of Operations, Anofi Elegushi, said the media has been an important part of hajj operations, adding that “whatever we do in Saudi Arabia must be reported back home.”
