2024 Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield Polo gallops-off May 27

As preparations for 2024 edition of Africa’s premium polo extravaganza, Access Bank-UNICEF Charity Shield Polo tournament gets to its feverish pitch, defending champions, Fifth Chukker, Jos Malcomines and over fifteen ambitious teams are gearing up for the international fiesta, which gallops-off at the Fifth Chukker & Country Resort in Kaduna  in May.

Billed to thrill from May27- June 8, the 2024 edition remains one of the prominent charity platforms to raise funds in support of UNICEF programmes, sponsored by Access Bank to drive development in the communities it serves.

Revered as one of the biggest charity polo platforms in the world, the UNICEF event has for years been decided in two stages, with teams battling for the UNICEF Cup and the events’ second most wanted prize, The Access Bank Cup in the first stage that climax June 2, 2024.

The second and the grand finale stage, which promises to be one of the most exciting Charity shield confrontations in years, will pitch four ambitious teams and title holders against Malcomines in a winner-takes-all chase for the Usman Dantata Cup and tournament’s top prize, the Charity Shield from June 4-8, 2024.

Last year, the 2023 the Charity Shield polo tourney climaxed in a cliff-hanging triumph for Access Bank (1&2) teams, Abuja YBL and Kano Rumbu polo teams carting home all the four titles on offer.

The tournament consisted of over ten teams with players coming from as far as Argentina and South Africa and top Nigerian players saw four great finals in the low, medium, intermediate and high-goal categories.

All the fiercely contested finals which ended with narrow victories were described by polo buffs as some of the most in exciting finals of the Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield polo series.
