6 Kwara communities get solar-powered boreholes from King Salman Relief Centre

Six communities in Kwara State have benefitted from solar-powered boreholes to improve the water supply in the area.

The communities of Oloje, Abayawo, Adeta, Eleyele, Egbejila and Erin-Ile in Ilọrin West and Kwara South local government areas benefited from the project.

The project was jointly facilitated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home.

Speaking during the commissioning at Oloje, the President of Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home, Mr Farid Abdulrazzaq Salman, said the project signifies a significant milestone in the quest to provide sustainable access to clean water for communities in need.

While emphasising the crucial role of such initiatives in addressing the pressing water needs of the communities, Salman highlighted the continued need for similar projects to reach more underserved areas.

According to him, the successful commissioning represents a testament to the power of collaboration and humanitarian efforts in transforming lives and fostering sustainable development. 

In their separate remarks, leaders of the affected communities expressed gratitude for the gesture and underscored the profound impact it will have in their areas.

On his part, the Magaji of Oloje community, Alhaji Abdulraheem Yahaya Akande, said the project has brought joy and relief to them, adding that residents previously had to trek 4-5 miles to access water. 

Similarly, the Imam of Abayawo, Khalifa Mubaraq Alase, expressed joy and appreciation, noting that the initiative has brought hope to a community that felt forgotten.
