‘Nigerian youths must produce under-40 governor in 2027’

Bello Muhammad Gidado, the founder of Rahaji Foundation and A19 Movement, has charged Nigerian youths to as much as possible produce an under-40 governor of a state come the 2027 general elections.

Gidado made the call shortly after he was presented an award for his contributions to societies and youth development at the Kano Hero Awards ceremony organised by DHS International and Project Rescue Nigeria Team held in Kano.

While speaking at the inaugural event, Gidado said, “They invited me to this event to come and collect an award, which was unexpected. I was surprised and asked myself, ‘What have I done to be recognized with an award?’

Gidado urged the youth to prioritize societal contributions over personal gains.

According to him, while the youth are the backbone of societal development, they must join politics and contribute to making society better.

He advised young people to move beyond criticising leaders and actively participate in solutions making, emphasising that it is high time to produce a young governor that is under 40 years of age.

“I want Nigeria to produce young leaders under 40 by the next election, be it president, governors or other key positions,” he said.

Other recipients of the Kano Hero Award included the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, late Malam Aminu Kano, Sheikh Nasiru Kabara, Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya (the Emir of Gaya), Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, among others.
