A suspected kidnapper, Abubakar Ali Damina (43), has been arrested in Ofodo village near Egabada town in Igalamela-Odolu LGA of Kogi State.
The suspect, who hails from Bida LGA of Niger State, was arrested on Monday in a joint operation by security forces and vigilantes and was found in possession of a single-barrel Dane gun, along with various suspicious items, including charms, a gun firing cap and local bullets.
Mohammed Ajitata, the head of vigilantes in the area, said Damina who confessed to the crime alleged that a man from Shanawa village in Lokoja LGA of Kogi State was his accomplice.
Ajitata further said, “We had been on his trail since we discovered his criminal activities in the community of Egabada-Odolu. On Monday, an intelligence report gave out his hideout and we alerted the security agents which led to his arrest in a joint operation.”

The state police command’s spokesman, SP Williams Aya, who was contacted over the incident via a text message and a voice call did not respond.
