IsDB celebrates 50 years of development impact

The Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB), Muhammad Al Jasser    has restated the multilateral lender’s commitment to promoting development and solidarity across its member states.

Muhammad Al Jasser spoke at a grand celebration in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to celebrate the bank’s 50th anniversary, reflect on its journey since its inception, and chart a course for the future.

Al Jasser highlighted the bank’s evolution from a single institution with 22 member countries to a group of five institutions with 57 member countries, and its total approvals exceeding USD 182 billion, funding over 12,000 development projects.

Al Jasser emphasised IsDB’s commitment to promoting development and solidarity across its member states, stating, that “Our work is not only to provide solutions for current challenges, but also to provide solutions for future generations that are yet to come into existence. Our infinite mission is to serve humanity.”

In a goodwill message, the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, lauded IsDB’s interventions in Nigeria and other African countries, highlighting the positive impact of IsDB’s funding on critical development projects in the region.
