The police in Niger State have arrested two vigilantes, Sabiu Hassan (26) and Ibrahim Ahore, over alleged theft of a motorcycle.
The command’s spokesman, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who paraded the suspects alongside others, said, “On 28/03/2024 at about 1600hrs, a direct complaint was received at the Bosso Division from a victim in Hayin-Gwari area that two persons who were dressed in police and vigilante T-shirts intercepted him as a motorcyclist on 25th March, at about 1930hrs on a Bajaj motorcycle with Reg No: MNA 121 CV, valued at N70,000 without any justification and headed to Tudun-Wada Division.
“When approaching the Tudun-Wada Division area, the victim was instructed to produce the particulars of the motorcycle. He rushed home for the documents. On his return, he discovered that the two men had disappeared with his motorcycle.”
Abiodun said during a police search and investigation the motorcycle was found in the residence of Sabiu Hassan, adding that when his house was searched, one locally made pistol was also recovered from.

He said during interrogation, Hassan confessed that he and Kabiru (a fellow vigilante) stole the motorcycle with the intention to sell it.
