A Civil Society Organisation, the Peoples Development Network, has said the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), is currently under siege by desperate office seekers.
The organisation Public Relations Officer, Ajibade Daniel, who stated this in a statement released to journalists at the weekend said having followed the recent reports in some segments of media, it was discovered that the media are available tools in the ongoing attempt to destroy the agency.
“We have followed the issue very closely, and reports by some segments of the media have shown that they are available tools in the ongoing attempt to destroy the Agency. It is clear that TETFund is currently under siege by desperate office seekers,” he said.
He said the “litany of baseless attacks” on TETFund may not be ending any time soon.
“In continuation of their sinister plot to illegally incite the removal of Arc Sonny Echono as Executive Secretary of TETFund, the detractors will likely attack the Agency’s research programmes and Academic Staff training next,” he said.
“They know what they are doing as they are aware and informed on the operations of the Agency, but it is easy to mislead and misinform the public who are not intimated on the processes of the Agency. Everyone knows that TETFund faithfully implements disbursement guidelines as approved by the president in relation to both physical and content components of their interventions.
“We were there the day ASUU President commended TETFund under its present leadership and how reforms have ensured the Agency is taking a new path in its interventions in tertiary institutions.”
Speaking further, Ajibade said some media platforms have been very biased in their reportage by claiming that the Executive Secretary of the Agency has been detained by ICPC while he was not even invited, he said it shows clearly that there is a destructive motive behind the numerous reportage.
