The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, has presented N47,827,529 million to 22 families of deceased officers in the state.
City & Crime reports that the commissioner presented the cheques for the amount to the next of kin of seven of the deceased officers in Asaba, the state capital.
Olufemi, who presented the cheque alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration in the state, Tokunbo Afolabi, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, said the deceased officers died in active service.
He said the benefit which is part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme included the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Insurance schemes.

The commissioner of police in the state noted that the welfare of both serving and late officers is part of the interest of the IGP.
He said the money would in no small way act as a boost to the families and also a way of letting them know that though their loved ones are no more, the force did not forget their sacrifices.
