The police have arrested three suspects for allegedly breaking a crude oil pipe and siphoning the crude in Edo State.

The suspects, Jackson Aluche, 45, Oke Okoro, 30, and Oluchukwu Chukwuma, 18, were arrested at Obazagbon community in Orhiomwon Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, said the suspects were arrested by the State Criminal Investigation Department while acting on credible intelligence.

He said the police received intelligence that hoodlums had broken a crude oil pipeline at Obazagbon community belonging to PAN Ocean Oil Corporation and were siphoning crude oil from it.

He said the suspects were caught at the scene of the crime by the police operatives.

He said the suspects confessed to the crime and that they were employed by AKA Doctor to carry out the act, adding that the suspects will soon be charged to court.

In an interview with journalists, one of the suspects, Oluchukwu Chukwuma, said they were not aware that they going for the crude oil business.

“We were contracted by AKA Doctor to help him package things in sacks but he didn’t tell us it was crude oil. As we were doing the work, vigilantes came and arrested us.

“The vigilante called the army who took us to their barracks before handing us over to the police.

“I came from Rivers State; the man didn’t tell us he was bringing us to tie crude oil in sacks for him.”
