The development has fueled massive agitation for the governorship slot to return to Kwara North.

At the stakeholders meeting held at the weekend by the Kwara North Youth Consultative Forum (KNYCF), indigenes were charged to unite behind a Kwara North ticket irrespective of their political affiliation.

According to the Guest Speaker of the occasion, Senator Shaabi Lafiagi, “the governorship ticket has continued to elude the district not because of political disability but because the permutation has always been skewed against it”.

On his part, Senator Sadiq Umar “said they will return to the drawing board to plan and ensure that the permutation favoured Kwara North this time around”.

“We have a population that is good enough to give us good votes and we will make sure we mobilise them this time around irrespective of party affiliations. We don’t want to grab power. Our party for this project is Kwara North, no personal interest.

“Our political scientists has told us here today that the body language of the Governor favours Kwara North and we are going to work on that to convince other regions”.

Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi Salhu, said this was the first step in the right direction, addinaboutt “the issue is about the district and by God’s grace, we will get to that destination.”

Former Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, said one of the best ways to get it right this time around is to support the issue of zoning and rotation as propounded by the national assembly. He called on the youth to support the move.

Hajia Fatimah Lafiagi, who spoke on behalf of the women said “Women are the bedrock of the voters and time has come for the youths to mobilise them to get a sizable vote in 2027 to realise the project.

Commissioner for Youths, Hon Nafisat Buge, said the gathering is a signal for every Kwaran adding that as youth, “We would do our work because in a battle of common interests, the best instrument of war is unity”.
