We’ve high-grade lithium for clean energy — Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, said Nigeria has high-grade lithium deposits that could power the world’s clean energy future.

Speaking during a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands in The Hague, Tinubu reiterated his government’s commitment to deepening reforms for a conducive investment climate and seeking mutually beneficial partnerships, especially in solid minerals.

He said, “Taking a holistic view of the world order, there is a tremendous opportunity between us across trade spheres but especially in solid minerals, where we have high-grade lithium deposits that we know can power the clean energy future of the world.”

Tinubu emphasised the value-additive opportunities in Nigeria beyond oil, showcasing the country’s dynamic youth population as a significant workforce and market for international investors.

He stressed the importance of providing opportunities for Nigerian youth to thrive domestically, thereby reducing irregular migration and benefiting both Nigeria and Europe through lawful migration.

Regarding economic decisions, Tinubu expressed confidence in his leadership’s ability to make tough choices for Nigeria’s long-term benefit, citing the resilience of Nigerians and the positive performance of the Nigerian naira.

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands noted that President Tinubu’s economic reforms have engendered greater confidence in the Nigerian economy by international investors.
