Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed Senator Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe as the leader of the state’s contingent (Ameerul-Hajj) to the 2024 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The move, it was gathered, followed the recent reconciliation between the governor and the former chairman of the Senate Committee on Health.
Recall that the political leaders fell out in the lead-up to the 2023 general elections when AbdulRazaq decided to back Senator Saliu Mustapha for the 2023 senatorial ticket for Kwara Central. Oloriegbe, who was then the senator representing the district, subsequently failed to secure a return seat during the primary election of the APC in Kwara. He described the exercise as a “charade.”
After the primary election, Oloriegbe reportedly withdrew support for the party in the state but mobilised for the victory of President Bola Tinubu.

Since then, Oloriegbe and the governor have not been seen together at any state public function until last week during the Thanksgiving for the late mother of the Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, where Oloriegbe was said to have reconciled with the governor.
Reacting to the appointment in a statement on Wednesday by his media aide, Bolaji Aladie, Oloriegbe expressed gratitude to the governor for the confidence reposed in him and for giving him the opportunity to serve.
