We’re addressing root cause of violent extremism – Counter-Terrorism Centre

The National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC), on Wednesday said the federal government has rolled out policies and strategies to contain violent extremism which has worsened the insecurity in the country.

The National Coordinator of the centre, Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka, stated this in Abuja at a Validation Workshop on the Country’s Needs Assessment, held for the NCTC and Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund.

Laka said the federal government remains committed to addressing the root causes of violent extremism in order to tame present raging security challenges, saying the meeting would review previous findings.

The fund’s Country Manager, Mickael Amar, said the workshop was to explain the main findings of the country needs assessment with a view to giving more insight on where to reposition the strategy for preventing violent extremism.
