Makarfi Local Government Area Education Trust and Endowment Fund (METEF) recently revealed that it has covered the tuition fees for more than 300 students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds within the LGA.
The Makarfi Education Trust & Endowment Fund (METEF) is a registered non-profit community development organization dedicated to promoting educational advancement within Makarfi Local Government Area.
It was disclosed that the beneficiaries of this initiative were students from Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic and Kaduna University.
The Trust Fund’s initiative aims to enable these students to concentrate on their studies without being hindered by financial constraints, as highlighted by Sama’ila Aliyu Makarfi, the Secretary of the foundation.
“We have extended support to approximately 300 young individuals within Makarfi LGA, covering their tuition fees to facilitate their educational pursuits. The majority of these beneficiaries are students in institutions like Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic and Kaduna University,” he said.
This announcement came following a visit by the foundation’s leadership, chaired by Mahmud Bako Gazara, to engage with key stakeholders from Makarfi Local Government, including the former state governor Ahmed Makarfi.
Other stakeholders visited to solicit for their support included the former Deputy Comptroller General of Customs Alhaji Garba Bala Makarfi, Alhaji Auwalu Mohammed Makarfi and Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo member representing Makarfi/ Kudan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
Also, the foundation is actively pursuing the establishment of a JAMB registration center in Makarfi LGA to alleviate the current inconvenience faced by students who have to travel to Zaria for their exams due to the absence of a local center.
Equally, Chairman Mahmud Bako Gazara, underlined the foundation’s steadfast dedication to reducing school dropout rates in the LGA.
“Our primary objective is to address the challenge of school dropout among our youth, irrespective of gender, within the LGA. Our vision is centered on advancing the educational landscape of Makarfi LGA,” he affirmed.
In response, Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo, the member representing Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency, lauded Makarfi Local Government’s rich educational heritage and committed to collaborating with the Trust Fund to provide continuous educational support in the LGA.
Ajilo remarked that as a legislator, supporting such initiatives could significantly assist in realizing his vision of promoting educational development in his constituency.
