Woman slumps after losing N300,000 in FCT market

A woman, Madam Rebecca, who came to buy bags of grains from villagers on Monday slumped after she lost N335,000 at the Abaji Main Market in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.

A trader at the grains section of the market, Mrs Jummai Alex, said the woman raised alarm after she dipped her hand inside her handbag and discovered that the money she came with was not there.

She said, “It was the quick intervention of some traders who brought sachet water and started pouring it on her that revived her.”

Another trader, Madam Sarah, said the woman’s money must have been stolen by thieves that usually came to the market every five days to monitor people that came with huge amounts of money to buy foodstuffs.

She further said, “I suspect that there was someone that had been monitoring the woman when she was struggling to buy the grains and the person quietly removed the money from her bag.”
