Kaduna village chief, wife, 5 children abducted

The Village Head of Bishini community in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State, Samuel Danbayi, his wife and five children have been kidnapped.

A resident, Ishaya Musa, said the incident happened on Friday around 12am when gunmen invaded the community and attacked the chief’s palace. An aide of the abducted chief, who preferred anonymity, told our reporter that the chief’s wife and two of the children escaped from their abductors on Saturday, noting that the bandits were yet to communicate with the family of the chief.

In another development, a community leader in neighbouring Azzara village, who also preferred anonymity, said that four of nine victims who were abducted three weeks ago in the area had regained their freedom.

He said the victims’ families raised N6m, including foodstuffs, for the bandits before the victims were freed last Thursday.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police command, SP Hassan Mansur, did not pick calls or respond to a text message sent to him on the incidents.
