A suspected motorcycle thief was yes-terday stripped for allegedly stealing a motorcycle along Ijah-Sarki road in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
City & Crime learnt that the suspect al-legedly stole the motorcycle at a drink-ing joint in Kwali main market around 2:12 pm.
It was further gathered that the sus-pect, who pretended to be drinking wine at the joint, allegedly picked the key of the motorcycle and quietly went to remove it from where it was parked.
A vigilante, simply identified as Ayuba, said his colleagues were immediately alerted and that they, and some other cyclists, chased the suspect.
He said, “As God will have it, some cy-clists at Ijah-Sarki junction saw the suspect while riding the motorcycle to-wards the axis and he was arrested.”
He added that before the vigilantes ar-rived at the scene, angry mob who pursued the suspect on motorcycle apprehended him, beat him and stripped him half naked.
According to him, the suspect was res-cued and the motorcycle retrieved from him.
The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Adeh Josephine, is yet to respond to enquiry sent to her on the incident.
