Ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday, governors elected on the platform of the party are presently locked at a meeting in Abuja.
The governors are meeting to put their acts together and present their position at the NEC meeting holding at the National Headquarters of the party.
Daily Trust gathered that the governors will be discussing who leads the party after the NEC meeting, with party stakeholders divided over whether the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, should continue or the North Central zone where the suspended National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, comes from, would be allowed to complete his tenure.
Among those at the meeting holding at the Akwa Ibom Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, were Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Vice Chairman of the forum, Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers).
Others are Governors Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Douye Diri, (Bayelsa) and Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa).
The gathering is also expected to discuss the prevailing situation in the country and come out with a position and the way forward.
