Justice Mu’azu Abubakar of the Bauchi State High Court on Tuesday sentenced a 39-year-old man, Sa’idu Mohammed, to 14 years in prison for sodomising a 12-year-old boy.
Delivering his verdict, Justice Abubakar, however, gave the convict an option of N100,000 fine.
The convict had earlier pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy.
The prosecution counsel, Mr S. M. Toro, told the court that the convict on June 16, 2022, lured the victim to a river in Yelwa community and sodomised him.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 10 and is punishable under Section 11 of the Anti-Kidnapping, Theft of Cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.
He said that the offence also contravened Section 13 of the Anti-Kidnapping, Theft of Cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007. (NAN)
