Edo gov’ship: Oshiomhole apologises to Urhokhide, says supporting Uzamere a mistake

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has apologised to the immediate past senator representing Edo South, Matthew Urhokhide, saying he regretted supporting Sen. Ehigie Uzamere against him while in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oshiomhole, who is currently representing Edo North in the National Assembly, spoke at the weekend while formally receiving Senator Urhokhide and eight former local government chairmen into the APC.

According to him, supporting former Senator Ehigie Uzamere against the candidacy of Matthew Urhokhide was one of the costly mistakes he had made in his political life, lamenting that the development made the party to lose Edo South to Sen. Urhoghide  twice.

“I was ill-advised, but I am not going to blame those who missed advised me. I accept the responsibility that I took the decision to support now-former Senator Uzamere. But after he won, he traded the ticket after being a senator and returned to PDP.

“Now, God decided to use Matthew to teach us a lesson. For two consecutive elections, spanning eight years, Urhoghide taught us a lesson.”

Earlier, Sen. Urhokhide promised that he would join the party to restore all the battered institutions in the state.

Also speaking, the state APC chairman, Jaret Tenebe, said he would keep doing his best to woo members from other political parties into the APC, stressing that democracy is a game of numbers.
