The Lagos State Special Offences Court has granted a former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, a bail of N50 million.
Daily Trust Saturday reports that Emefiele was charged with a 26-count bordering on alleged abuse of office and irregular allocation of $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion respectively.
Justice Rahmon Oshodi, on Friday admitted him to bail with two sureties in like sum.
The court had on Monday sent Emefiele back to the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on remand after his arraignment on a 26-count-charge bordering on “abuse of office, accepting gratifications, corrupt demand, receiving property fraudulently obtained and conferring corrupt advantage.”

He ordered that the sureties must show proper identification and be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.
Meanwhile, a CBN employee, Mr Monday Osazuwa, on Friday told an Ikeja Special Offences Court how Emefiele, on different occasions, directed him to collect $3 million dollars cash in tranches.
Osasuwa, while being led in evidence by the EFCC counsel, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said he was a dispatch rider in Zenith Bank in 2001 before he joined the CBN in 2014.
