The Jigawa State Government has approved N1.1 billion for emergency procurement of additional food items, including 12,000 bags of rice and 15,000 cartons of spaghetti, for sale to civil servants at subsidised prices.
The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa, disclosed this while briefing newsmen yesterday on the outcome of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Monday.
He said the purchase of the food items was part of the state government’s plan to establish cooperative shops in all the 27 local government areas of the state for selling food items and other essential commodities to the civil servants at subsidised rates.
