Ogun State government has commenced the evacuation and rehabilitation of destitute with mental disorders who constitute environmental nuisance to communities across the state.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, who spoke at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the exercise is meant to sanitise the environment and ensure security of residents.
She decried the increasing number of destitute roaming the metropolis, informing that the ministry needed to expedite action to curtail the abnormality, in order to reduce the danger it posed to the society.
Adeleye stated that the rehabilitation department of the ministry had been going round the 20 local government areas of the state, to ensure that streets were rid of vagrants for safety, adding that they would be properly rehabilitated and united with their families after receiving medical care.

The commissioner advised citizens to ensure they maintain social and mental health, as well as refrain from activities that could lead to mental disorders, such as drug abuse, among others, assuring that the government would not relent in its resolve to ensure the well-being of its citizenry.
Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs.) Ayotunde Lawal, assured that those picked would go through medical examination to determine the extent of their condition and know those that were miscreants or in disguise, to ensure that citizens move freely without fear of being attacked by vagrants.
