Ogun shuts company over environmental infractions

The Ogun State Government has commenced the evacuation and rehabilitation of people with mental disorders who constitute environmental nuisance to communities across the state.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, who decried the increasing number of destitute people roaming the metropolis and other parts of the state, said the exercise was meant to sanitise the environment and ensure the security of residents,

She explained that the rehabilitation department of the ministry had been going round the 20 LGAs of the state to ensure that streets were rid of vagrants for the safety of others, noting that they would be rehabilitated and reunited with their families.

The commissioner advised the citizens to ensure they maintained social and mental health, as well as refrain from activities that could lead to mental disorders such as drug abuse, assuring that the government would not relent in its resolve to ensure their wellbeing.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs) Ayotunde Lawal, assured that those picked would go through medical examination to determine the extent of their condition to know those that were miscreants or pretenders to ensure that citizens moved freely without fear of being attacked.
