The newly appointed national coordinator for National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), Johnson Babatunde Kokumo on Monday formally assumed duties.
Kokumo, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, officially resumed shortly after he took over from his predecessor, AM Dikko, a retired Major-General from the Nigerian Army.
The former senior police officer, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu last week, vowed to mop up small arms and ammunition particularly the ones in possession of non-state actors across the country.
In his handover speech, Dikko, who was the pioneer national coordinator of the centre, highlighted his efforts in steering the Centre in the right direction during his tenure.
