Four people on Wednesday died in an auto crash around Ayere, along the Ilọrin/Bode Saadu highway in Kwara State.
The accident, it was gathered, occurred around 1pm when one of the trucks wrongfully overtook a vehicle leading to a head-on collision with another truck.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State, Bilikis Basambo, confirmed the incident on Wednesday night.
According to her, preliminary investigations revealed that one of the trucks carrying fertiliser and eight passengers wrongfully overtook another vehicle without a clear view of the road ahead.

“But in a bid to avoid colliding with an oncoming truck, the driver lost control and swerved to the side thereby colliding with another truck carrying tomatoes.
“A total of 10 persons were involved in the crash. Five were injured while four others sadly lost their lives. The obstructions had been cleared to allow free flow of traffic,” she said.
Basambo added that the sector commander, Stephen Dawulung, has directed a full investigation into the incident.
She appealed to drivers to avoid overspeeding, overloading, wrongful overtaking and other acts that may be inimical to their safety.
