Yes, have your say

I’m dedicating today’s page to the many responses I got from readers of this column. Some of the responses are worth sharing here. I truly appreciate them.

Re: The Pampalak’i they ignored

SPONSOR AD

Americans stole the land of others to build their nation.

Same with Australians, New Zealanders. Nearly all Latin American countries are ruled by invaders.

The White race is not guided by any divine Book.

Fortified by science and technology and false theorists like Darwin, they believe humanity has no divine origin, we are just part of a natural food chain, with the strong devouring the weak.

The Arabs are lacking in racial identity. The monarchs have come to rely on Western Establishment for the security of their thrones, and they are willing to kowtow to Israel as the West itself does.

Our hearts do bleed for Palestinians, on the extreme trials they are facing with no succour in sight.

Let’s see how the Arabs will live in peace after the annihilation of Palestinians.

Re: Pampalak’i

I thought you would instantly figure out that the US was dropping ‘aid’ into Gaza in order to lure the Palestinians out in the open, so that they will get killed by the Israeli military.

Re: How many more Hinds before they act right?

A very vigorous composition, but don’t let anger overshadow your sense of reasoning and consciousness. In the world we are in now, things happening had been prophesied centuries ago, so why is it a surprise to us human beings? I urge you, rather than promoting war and hatred between innocent lives, choose to preach love and pray for God’s mercy upon this Earth.

Can you justify the number of Christians killed since BOKO HARAM started???

Or even just this last year December before Christmas in Plateau State?

Ask yourself this question, should religion be one of the reasons we human beings should kill ourselves?

In the name of religion, millions have died.

I’m a Christian and honestly, I don’t want to see Muslims get hurt or them hurting me.

Imagine if the whole world is at war today, everyone against their neighbours, ask yourself, would you be alive? In the same way, imagine if the whole world is at peace with each other, how would you feel?

The problem of this world is mental and spiritual, as a Christian I can’t conspire to harm my Muslim neighbour in any way, we human beings allowed religion to affect us in a wrong way, I’m very ashamed of what is happening between Israel and Palestine honestly, because it has gone beyond revenge, it’s now a virus that originated from Europe.

I can’t justify their actions because it’s far from Christianity, all I see are people who call themselves leaders but are being used as demonic and satanic instruments on earth.

In conclusion, nothing should make us humans destroy ourselves, not even religion, so please preach peace and love, rather than retaliation that can lead to the end of the human race and existence on planet earth.

In the piece in question, I only called on world leaders, particularly those of the Arab world, to do all in their power to stop the genocide against Palestinians. I used the story of little Hind as a peg.

Nowhere did I call for religious violence against Christians or any other religious group. Indeed, some Christians and Jews have been in the forefront of condemning Israeli atrocities in Gaza and the West Bank.

South Africa even took Israel to the ICJ over this genocide. I can’t figure out how Rakiya Praise got her interpretation of my column.

Aisha.

Re: How many more Hinds

Kudos for always standing with the suffering, dying and hungry Palestinians. Your column today, like many others, has poignantly nailed it. May Allah SWT reward you for telling the world more about the genocide against the Palestinians.

Thanks a lot Aisha.

And may you be protected fully by Almighty Allah

Re: And the monarchs wept

You spoke the minds of many….some weeks ago, the VC of University of Benin was on a TV morning programme saying that her annual budget is a little above N300 million and even that comes in trickles. Yet, we all witnessed the commissioning of State House ‘state of the art’ clinic, built at the cost of N21 billion.

YAA SALAAM! ….It got me wondering, does any of the Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria get a billion Naira as annual budget?

One can be corrupt and insensitive, but the insulting and criminal expenditures of the ruling class today are beyond comprehension….

Re: How many more Hinds before they act right?

Honestly, it’s really pathetic to see how Israelis are killing women and children so freely.

It got me so disturbed I had written on the ongoing Israeli War on Palestine. The title of my piece is:

“Who Will Halt Israel’s Wanton Murder of Gaza People?”

Re: It all started with Akpabio’s ‘wankan tsarki’

I sincerely hope this mail meets you well.

Your piece, with the above title on ‘Another Dimension’ was actually scathing. You held nothing back, no mincing of words. Strong.

Great piece.

RE: AKPABIO’S ‘WANKAN TSARKI’

Honestly, the above piece which appeared on your column in the Daily Trust newspaper of Wednesday, March 20, 2024, is the best I’ve read in recent times.

The ‘Wankan Tsarki’ phenomenon started in the APC in order to have the so-called big names from opposition parties move to APC. As you rightly pointed out, once you crossed over to the party you are cleansed of all political sins and considered pure enough to vie for any political office.

It is this ‘Wankan Tsarki’ that made it possible for Godswill Akpabio to have the guts to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, where he even became a governor of Akwa Ibom for eight consecutive years, though with the excess baggage of corruption on his head.

He joined the APC in order to have a cover and got a smooth sailing. With a character like Akpabio as the Senate President, the Red Chamber will be continuously tainted with corruption unabated.

It is for this reason, that Senate President Akpabio will never like people like Senator Abdul Ningi, who is ready to blow the whistle on any corrupt practice in the Senate.

Senator Abdul Ningi, needs to be commended for what he has done so far, by exposing the padding of the 2024 budget. As you have said, there is no need for him to apologise at all, rather he should challenge his suspension in court as the suspension is illegal and cannot stand once challenged in the court.

It is only in a country like Nigeria that a person who had petitions instituted against him by his state indigenes, over the theft of their state funds, could be found worthy to be elected as the Senate President.

Even his short stay in the Niger Delta ministry he was enmeshed with accusation of corruption running into billions of naira, which the EFCC is still handling.

Senator Abdul Ningi, should not recant from the path of being a whistle-blower in the Senate, so that the corrupt senators, led by the Senate president can be checkmated for the benefit of the common man and woman in this country.
