The Agaba of Jiwa chiefdom in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Alhaji Idris Musa, and chairman of the council, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, have met with the commandant of the air force base at the airport over demolition of houses of natives at Nuwalege community in the FCT.
Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, the chairman of AMAC, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, called on the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, to address the issue of the lingering land dispute at Nuwalege and Iddo-Sarki communities under the council.
He said the affected natives were not against taking over land for development by both Navy and Nigeria Air force in the territory, saying proper procedure should be followed in addressing the issue of land ownership.
“If the navy and air force are entitled to take over the land from both Iddo-Sarki and Nuwalege communities, it means they should have alternatives for our people,” he said.

Also speaking, the FCT Commissioner for Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu, who led the monarch and AMAC chairman to the meeting, said it was as a result of distress call to his office over the ongoing demolition of natives’ houses at Nuwalege community by the air force.
He said apart from the demolition of some of the houses in the community, the natives have also been facing the challenge of how to access their homes.
On his part, the Agaba of Jiwa chiefdom, Alhaji Idris Musa, while calling on the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, to wade into the land dispute, urged natives of both Nuwalege and Iddo-Sarki communities under his chiefdom to be law-abiding to the constituted authorities as government addresses the issue.
“I am confident that the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, will take this land matter at the two communities to President Bola Tinubu to tackle it headlong,” he said.
