According to him, the bandits could not meet their main target, which he said was Alhaji Ado Altine, and decided to whisked away the woman and her baby.

He said, “Actually, from information I gathered, the woman’s husband, Alhaji Ado Altine, was their main target but he was not at home when the bandits struck and they decided to abduct his wife and the five days old baby alongside eight others.”

He said Alhaji Ado returned from Jere market, where he had gone to sell some of his cows, adding, however, that upon his returned from the market on Sunday, he left Azzara to visit a relation at Katari town when the bandits struck.

“Actually, the bandits missed their target as this is the second time they are coming after Alhaji Ado Altine. The same thing happened early January, when they came and they didn’t meet him at home,” he said.

He said contact was yet to be established with the abductors of the victims since the incident happened on Sunday night.

The spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, SP Hassan Mansur, did not pick calls or reply to text message sent to him on the incident up till the time of filling this report yesterday.
