3 Falcons hit Abuja camp as Bayana Bayaana arrive for Olympic qualifier

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Tochukwu Oluehi and Jumoke Alani are the early birds in the Super Falcons camp in preparation for the must-win Olympic qualifier against South Africa’s Bayana Bayana.

According to a tweet posted on the X handle of the Super Falcons, the trio are the only ones in camp as at the time of press.

It will be noted that defender Jumoke Alani was named as a replacement for Ashleigh Plumptre, who pulled out due to injury.

Meanwhile, the reigning African champions, the South African Banyana Banyana arrived in Abuja in preparation for the Olympic qualifier against Super Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

It will be noted that the Super Falcons are extra-motivated for this fixture, having not beaten the Banyana in regulation time for many years now, and having watched as the South Africans carted away the Women Africa Cup of Nations trophy in Morocco last year after the Banyana edged them 2-1 in a group phase match.

The MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja will host the opening leg of the two-match series on April 5 while the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria will host the second game on April 9.

The winner over two legs will join 15 other senior women teams from across the globe for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament starting in Paris on 16th July.
