The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has approved the allocation of N1 billion to clear the backlog of gratuity payments.
The approval came after no payments had been made since 2011.
Governor Kefas, in signing the approval, instructed the state’s Ministry of Finance to promptly disburse the outstanding entitlements.
He expressed regret over the delays and emphasized his administration’s commitment against abandoning diligent workers who have served the nation.

In addition to the initial N1 billion, the governor has also approved a monthly allocation of N200 million to gradually settle the backlog and ensure ongoing payments.
He said this was in fulfilment of his campaign promises to address pension and gratuity issues despite the significant backlog.
Governor Kefas stated that it is unjust to withhold the entitlements of workers who have served the state for years.
