Police Commissioner Usaini Gumel later met with community leaders and assured them of the command’s readiness to address the problem.

A resident and community leader, Aminu Muhammad Bello, said police proactive measures had restored confidence of the residents and normalcy has since returned to the troubled community.

He said an anti-daba police outpost would be established in the area to deal with any troublemaker.

Residents, who revealed that the thugs usually snatch phones, motorcycles and other valuables under the bridge, expressed appreciation to God for the restoration of peace in the area.

A statement signed by the co-chairman of the peace committee, Right Reverend Dr John Namaza Niyiring, and the convener and head of the secretariat, Ambassador Ibrahim Wayyah, said the arrest of miscreants connected to the violence in Dorayi is commendable.
