FG to explore private sector partnership on training of health workers – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has identified enhanced healthcare delivery as a top priority of the present administration, saying the federal government will explore private sector partnership on training of health workers in the country.

The VP also said the government would support the training of personnel in its teaching hospitals and other tertiary health institutions to meet emerging challenges of healthcare delivery.

Shettima gave the assurance yesterday when he received at the Presidential Villa the management of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), led by its Chief Medical Director, Prof Ahmed Ahidjo.

Shettima, who commended the management of the institution for the giant strides over the years, said the present administration was committed to supporting human capacity development in hospitals across the country.

Prof Ahidjo earlier in his remarks said the visit of the team was to thank the VP for his support to the institution which spanned over 15 years and to present the scorecard of the hospital, as well as its future plans.
