A 34-year-old man, Kabiru Sani, of Gawu Babangida, Gurara LGA of Niger State, has been allegedly killed by his 30-year-old younger brother, Abubakar Sani, over property.
The suspect was alleged to have hit his elder brother with firewood on his head around 10am on Sunday.
Sources told City & Crime that the suspect had on several occasions threatened to kill his family members including his mother, forcing his mother to relocate to somewhere, leaving him with his siblings.
One of the sources said the suspect was mentally impaired and was undergoing treatment before the incident.

When contacted, the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident.
Abiodun said “On 24/3/2024 at about 1145hrs, police operatives attached to Gawu-Babangida Division arrested one Abubakar Sani (30) of Gawu-Babangida area in Gurara LGA.
“The suspect was arrested after he engaged in a fight with his brother, Kabir Sani (34), over issues bothering on property and during the fight, he allegedly hit the brother with a stick on the head.”
He said his brother became unconscious after the attack and was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Gawu, where he was confirmed dead.
