The Ijaw Youths Network (IYN), yesterday, tackled a former Minister of Communications, Maj Gen Tajudeen Olanrewaju (rtd), over comments made on the murder of 16 personnel of the Nigerian Army in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State.
Gen Olarenwaju had said non-state actors, who parade themselves as militants, should not be seen around crude oil pipelines in the name of security and protection in Nigeria.
Reacting, the IYN in a statement by its coordinator, Frank Ebikabo and Secretary, Federal Ebiaridor, said the General should be concerned about how to track down and arrest those who brazenly assaulted the collective peace, safety and security of the country.
According to the IYN, “The General is aware of the relentless pursuit of the oil thieves in the coastal waters and creeks of the Niger Delta with several arrests of rogue vessels in the region by Tantita Security Services Limited.”
