The Kwara State Police Command says the Chinese national, PengChao Zhang, who was abducted penultimate Sunday around Eyenkorin in Kwara State, has regained his freedom.
PengChao, also known as Williams Kaka among his business associates, was abducted by six armed men who invaded Cherish Guest House, an isolated facility on the outskirts of Ilorin.
City and Crime reliably gathered that the victim, said to be a former employee of Erkang Quarry, was released by his abductors after the payment of an undisclosed amount of ransom.
A source who was privy to the development said Zhang was “rescued” in conjunction with some operatives guiding a company (name withheld) located close to Afon forest.

Police spokeswomanin Kwara State, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), told our correspondent on the telephone that the Chinese expatriate was rescued in the early hours of Tuesday.
“Through diligent and coordinated efforts, the command’s tactical teams and vigilantes executed a series of strategic search and investigation leading to the safe rescue of the victim in the early hours of 19th March, 2024.
“The command is pleased to confirm that the victim has since been reunited with his family unharmed.
“This achievement underscores the unwavering commitment of the Kwara State Police Command to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors within the state,” she added.
