The action of Igbos in Kaduna Friday created anxiety as all their stalls were under lock and key, thus, suspending business activities.

DailyTrust observed that all stalls belonging to Igbos in the state metropolis and its environs were put under lock and key for reasons unknown to the people.

Residents of the state therefore became apprehensive as phone calls and rumour of tension began to make the round and some people began to run away from the town while some parents quickly picked their children from school for fear of the unknown.

It was also gathered that some traders in Sabon-Tasha who are non-Igbos having seen the situation also locked up their shops for fear of any eventuality.

At Jos road in the state metropolis, people were also seen running and shouting, saying, ‘anfara’ meaning, ‘they have started’.

This made the state metropolis to look scanty and few people were seen moving around with fear while others were going about their lawfu businesses.

Meanwhile our reporter sigted police armour tank, military men aboard their van in strategic locations in the state.

When contacted, the President of Igbos in Kaduna, Barrister Chris Nnoli described as surprising the decision of the Igbo traders to lock up their stalls.

"On Thursday, the Igbo and Yoruba leaders in the state were at the commissioner of police office to dispel the rumour that there were problem in Kaduna and there the CP urged the people to remain calm but unfortunately, we saw the shops locked and there was no meeting to that effect,"

"It could probably be because of the tension generally but there is no prpblem. It is just about people choosing what to do and what not to do. We have told people that we are not in support of the tension in the East. We believe in one Nigeria and we will continue to be law abiding," he said.

Also, the spokesperson of Kaduna state policw command, ASP Muktar H. Aliyu described the rumour of tension in the state as baseless, saying mischief makers are looking for such opportunity to forment trouble.

He therefore urged thw people of the state to go about their lawful businesses without fear, assuring that the police is ensuring that there is no breech of law and order.
