Charity begins at home, and no other place reflects this axiom more than Wukari- the country home of Taraba’s state top man, Dr. Agbu Kefas. Wukari is the historic spiritual headquarters of the famed Kwararafa empire and a town stepped in mysteries. The majestic seat of the traditional ruler, the Aku Uka, has continued to impress historians, researchers, and culture enthusiasts across the world. Ancient but modern, the town is also gradually morphing into the democratic political Mecca of the state.
And now, with two major universities: a federal university and a community based Kwararafa University, Wukari has engrafted itself into both national and global scholarship as a veritable academic city. Beyond these, the city is a collection of posh shopping malls, real estates, exquisite hotels, and relaxation spots, making it a traveler’s delight.
And lately too, the city that was once suffering from the paralyzing impact of crisis is now jolting to new life. More visitors to the town means more opportunities for traders and hotel owners as well as other investments. The governor himself has injected a new zest in both, making the town attractive and also securing it. Just as he’s doing across the other local governments.
Above all, the new Wukari governor lodge at the GRA part of town is becoming symbolic of the fresh direction. A new structure build on the ruins of the former dejected house there, the architectural delight, like the Phoenix, speaks to the Renaissance and resurrection of the city.
Relatedly, better peace and unity means that prosperity can now flow in freely. No wonder a University Teaching Hospital is springing up as well as an ultra market being mulled to become the hub of the international yam market. This means more jobs for the teeming youths. All politics is local, and this governor sure understands that as the Moving Forward miracle spreads around the state like wildfires.
