Dare satisfied with Ghana’s hosting of African Games

The immediate past Nigeria’s Minister of Sports, Chief Sunday Akin Dare, has appreciated Ghana for her remarkable hosting of the 2023 African Games 2023.

In a statement, he acknowledged President Nana Akufo-Addo, and the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mustapha Ussif, for their commitment to sports development in the west African country.

Dare also commended the meticulous planning and execution by the Ghanaian government and its sports authorities as he acknowledged their efforts in creating a conducive environment for athletes and officials from across the continent to compete for laurels.

“I salute the efforts of the Minister and his team. I have been to the venues and I think this is commendable. I was the chairman of the African Region 2 last year when we took the decision to ensure Ghana was given the eight months they required to prepare.

“I am happy that in eight months, Ghana has been able to pull this together. It is a thing of pride for Africa. 54 countries are gathered here, 29 sports, and 7 different venues for the Games,” said Dare.

He emphasized that hosting an event of the magnitude of the African Games demands the undivided support of the government, political will, a well-functioning ministry of youth and sports, and the collaborative efforts of various sports stakeholders.

Dare, therefore, expressed optimism for the future of sports in the region and reiterated his commitment to advancing the cause of youth and sports on the continent.
