Rain: Delta begins desilting of drainage

The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has begun desilting of drains within the capital territory and its environs ahead of the rainy season.

Mr Patrick Ukah, the Director-General of the agency, told newsmen on Thursday in Asaba that the exercise was intended to improve environmental cleanliness, reduce pollution, diseases and enhance the aesthetics of the capital city.

“It is also to rid the state capital of flood-related issues. We want to achieve absolute cleanliness on the streets of Asaba and we have started by cleaning up the drains,” he said. (NAN)
